There is also a soft grainy texture across the recording, which makes the source of the distraction less obvious. My first practical option is to adjust the endpoints and audition a brief crossfade. At this stage I cannot tell whether the tick is embedded in the recording or introduced by my loop setup. Would you inspect the boundary first and then audition a longer uninterrupted section?
